The City of New Buffalo has a council-manager form of government with a five-member City Council elected at-large. Authorized by the City Charter, Chapter 3.
The City Council regularly meets the third Monday of each month at 6:30 pm Eastern Time in the Community Room at City Hall, 224 W. Buffalo St., New Buffalo, MI 49117 or by an electronic meeting.
The recording secretary for the City Council is the City Clerk Office.
The City Council has five members with staggered, four-year terms.
City Council elects one City Council member to be the Mayor and one City Council member to be the Mayor Pro Tem during their organizational meeting which follows the regular City Election in November of each even-numbered year. Collectively, the City Council appoints the City Manager.
